Instruction Safety & Burning TIps

Safety Tips

Thank you for choosing an Aromatize product. To ensure you get the maximum results from your product whilst maintaining safety at all times please follow these simple but effective user instructions.

Candles

Burn with safety

Always burn your candle on a level heat resistant surface and away from flammable objects and other sources of heat and draughts. Use our decorative Candle Shades and Plates to prevent heat damage to your surfaces and encourage an even burn.

Keep candles away from children and pets and never leave a candle unattended whilst lit. Always leave a minimum of 10cm between any burning candles.

Never handle a candle whilst in use. Wait until the wax has cooled and hardened before moving.

Don’t drop matches or other debris into the wax.

Candle Performance

For maximum results burn your candle for 2-4 hours at a time. After this period allow the wax to cool and solidify before re-lighting. This helps to maintain the life of your candle giving you a full and consistent fragrance throw throughout burning.

Trim the wick

Keep your wick trimmed to 3-5mm at all times. This also applies to the first time you light your candle. Trim your wick before each burn. Ensure that any wick trimmings are removed before lighting the candle. Use a wick trimmer where possible.

Lighting and extinguishing the candle

Use a long barrelled gas lighter where possible as they do not leave residue which matches can and it is easier to ignite the wicks as the wax reduces down the candle jar. Use a candle snuffer or the jar lid to gently extinguish each flame.

Let the wax pool

Each time you burn your candle allow the entire top layer to become a pool of liquid wax. This creates the best fragrance throw available, keeps your wicks burning with a consistent flame and helps to avoid tunnelling (wax residue left at the sides of a candle jar). It is the melted pool of wax that creates the fragrance throw, which is why two wicks are often better than one.

Know when to say goodbye

We never like to see the end of our favourite fragrance, but once your candle wax is 1cm from the bottom of the jar you should no longer use it. Time to find a new favourite.

Wax Melts

Wax melts should only be used in appropriate wax melt burners. Add one piece of the wax melt pack at a time until the required melted wax fill is reached. Do not over fill the wax melt burner initially as wax will spill over. If wax remains in the burner bowl after use and you wish to remove it, wait until the wax cools and hardens, then apply a small amount of gentle pressure on one end of the wax until it pops out. Do not use metal or sharp objects to clean out wax as this may crack or damage the burner or cause injury.

Illuma Lids

Illuma Lids are used to produce a better fragrance throw for single wicked candle jars. The branded candles Aromatize supply create a better fragrance throw though the pooling achieved by having two wicks, so an Illuma Lid is not required. Illuma Lids should not be used with the candle brands Aromatize supply. As the candle brands Aromatize supply have two wicks and not one wick centrally positioned like other candles, the flames of a candles supplied by Aromatize can cause damage to the Illuma Lids.

Wax Melter (non-electrical)

Failure to follow these instructions could result in a fire hazard. Use only with good quality wax melts. Not intended for use with fragranced warming oil or potpourri refresher oil.

  • Never leave a burning candle unattended or move it when lit.
  • Remove all packaging before use and that the melter is clean and dry.
  • Only use with a good quality tea-light. Do not use with a maxi tea-light, votive or other candle.
  • Keep the Wax Melter and tea-light out of the reach of children and pets.
  • Do not burn the tea-light or leave the wax melter on or near anything that can catch fire.
  • Ensure the wax melter is well ventilated. There must be at least 6.5cm of space above the flame within the wax melter.
  • Keep foreign objects out of the wax pool.
  • Keep the wick trimmed to 3-5mm and remove any carbon build up.
  • The wax melter becomes very hot during use, do not touch or move whilst alight or whilst wax remains molten.
  • Extinguish the tea-light if the flame becomes enlarged, makes contact with the wax melter, or begins to smoke.
  • Use a candle snuffer to extinguish the flame. Once extinguished allow wax melter to cool before moving.

Direction for Use

  • Place the wax melter on a level, flat, cool, heat resistant surface away from draughts, other heat sources and flammable objects. If used on a non-heat resistant surface damage may occur if the wax melter is used without a protective plate, tray or similar product.
  • Position the wax melt segment on the top bowl of the wax melter.
  • Ensure that the volume of the wax melt is less than that of the dish, to avoid spillage of melted wax.
  • Insert a tea-light in the bottom base of the wax melter.
  • Allow the heat of the tea-light to melt the wax and fragrance will release into the room. The wax melter will become hot while in use, do not touch while in use, heated wax can cause burns. Allow the melter to cool completely before touching or moving.
  • Do not allow the pool of wax to completely evaporate so the top bowl becomes dry whilst a tea-light is still lit. This could cause the wax melter to scorch and (or) smoke.
  • If wax remains in the bowl after use and you wish to remove the wax, wait until the wax cools and hardens, apply a small amount of warm water to soften the wax and then whilst using protective gloves gently place pressure on one end of the wax to pop the wax out.
  • Let the wax melter completely cool before re-use.
  • DO NOT USE METAL OBJECTS TO CLEAN OUT THE WAX. DO NOT APPLY EXCESSIVE PRESSURE WHEN CLEANING OR REMOVING WAX. THIS MAY CRACK AND DAMAGE THE MELTER. DO NOT PLACE THE MELTER IN A FREEZER.
  • WAX MELTERS BECOME HOT DURING USE. ONLY USE ON A HEAT RESISTANT SURFACE. IF UNSURE - USE A PROTECTIVE PLATE, TRAY OR SIMILAR PRODUCT.

Electric Wax Melter

Failure to follow these instructions could result in a fire hazard. Use only with good quality wax melts. Not intended for use with fragranced warming oil or potpourri refresher oil.

  • Never leave an electric wax melter unattended whilst in use.
  • Remove all packaging before use and check the burner for any cracks or damage.
  • Keep the electric wax melter out of the reach of children and pets.
  • Do not leave the electric wax melter on or near anything that can catch fire.
  • Ensure the electric wax melter is well ventilated. Keep foreign objects out of the wax pool.
  • The electric wax melter becomes very hot during use, do not touch or move whilst switched on or whilst wax remains molten.
  • Do not immerse in water.
  • Do not put fingers or hands into the unit.

Direction for Use

  • Place the electric wax melter on a level, flat, cool, heat resistant surface away from other heat sources and flammable objects. If used on a non-heat resistant surface damage may occur if the electric wax melter is used without a protective plate, tray or similar product.
  • Position the wax melt segment on the top bowl of the wax melt burner.
  • Ensure that the volume of the wax melt is less than that of the dish, to avoid spillage of melted wax.
  • Plug in the electric wax melter and switch it on.
  • If you are using a touch melter, slowly cycle through the settings and never turn on/off while in use from the mains switch.
  • Allow the heat of the bulb to melt the wax and fragrance will release into the room. The electric wax melter will become hot while in use, do not touch while in use, heated wax can cause burns. Allow the burner to cool completely before touching or moving.
  • Do not allow the pool of wax to completely evaporate so the top bowl becomes dry whilst the electric wax melter is switched on. This could cause the electric wax melter to scorch.
  • Switch off the electric wax melter and unplug from the mains when not in use.
  • If wax remains in the bowl after use and you wish to remove the wax, wait until the wax cools and hardens, then whilst using protective gloves apply a small amount of gentle pressure on one end of the wax to pop the wax out.
  • Please handle the delicate wax dish with care.
  • Let the electric wax melter completely cool before re-use.
  • DO NOT USE METAL OBJECTS TO CLEAN OUT THE WAX. DO NOT APPLY EXCESSIVE PRESSURE WHEN CLEANING OR REMOVING WAX. THIS MAY CRACK AND DAMAGE THE MELTER. DO NOT PLACE THE MELTER IN A FREEZER.
  • ELECTRIC WAX MELTERS BECOME HOT DURING USE. ONLY USE ON A HEAT RESISTANT SURFACE. IF UNSURE USE A PROTECTIVE PLATE, TRAY OR SIMILAR PRODUCT.
