What Makes a Good Website?

With so much time devoted to online shopping, what can you do to secure the loyalty of your customers in a competitive market?

While there isn’t a definitive answer on what makes a good website, there are certain elements that will have a universal appeal to customers.

The first steps are; secure payment facilities, a varied product mix, and easy navigation. Then, growing your website content will also build your customer base.

  1. Clear and memorable branding should be visible on all pages of your website. Ensure your logo isn’t blurry or difficult to read.
  2. Eye catching imagery will have instant appeal to browsing consumers. Try and ensure that your product photos are bright and professional. Consider using ‘Lifestyle Shots’. These are images of a home environment and help the customer envisage the products in their home.
  3. Use clear product images. Aromatize provide ‘White Shots’ of our products. These are clear, front-facing images with a white background and a uniform size. To find these, scroll to the bottom of the page and visit the ‘Sales Help’ section. Under this header you will find links to each of our brands image archives via dropbox. Websites with cluttered, dark images with unthought-out backgrounds will look unprofessional.
  4. Maximise website text.
    • Typos can happen, but websites littered with spelling or grammatical errors can be off-putting. Try to proof read, spell check, and ask for a second reader to view your website when you can.
    • Ensure you have removed all the default website text. When using a website builder, the areas for you to add company and product information will be pre-filled with text. These can be instructions, nonsense words or even Latin! Make sure that everything on your website refers to your business!
    • Inform the consumer as much as you can. Providing your customers with product information will show how knowledgeable you are. It can be a daunting and time-consuming task but it's worth expanding your product descriptions.
  5. Inform yourself. We want our customers to have the best understanding of our products to pass that knowledge to their customers. Aromatize ‘Sales Presenters’ are product information sheets. To find them you can scroll to the bottom of the page under ‘Sales Help’ and click on ‘Useful Forms’. Or click on the ‘All You Need To Know’ banners viewable throughout the Aromatize Website. You can also visit the photo albums on our Facebook page.
  6. Keep it fresh. In the same way you would update a shop window, refreshing your website images and keeping text up to date will keep customers visiting your website regularly.

Is there anything else we can provide you with that will help you grow your website? Just let us know and we will try our best to assist.
